had been making the point that so much of the tech industry is project-based learning. google gives people time off to do what they want. they give them time to explore and hang out with other people, outside of the framework of this more structured enterprise. burning man, from the very beginning is project-based learning. it attracts people from every demographic that you can think of, every category. so you have to, potentially, encyclopedic knowledge assembled at this place. and the natural way to learn is project-based. scholarship is fine, academic models can be useful for certain things, but human beings tend to learn by engaging in project- based learning. if you look at the desert -- well, here is an example. i was on a tour for the black rock arts foundation. we went to various studios around the area where artwork was getting ready for la playa. all of the big ones involving armies of people with the various skills. it takes her attacker, a traditional art, overlapping fields of knowledge -- takes tech, traditional art, overlapping fields of knowledge. even people who we

by google, and they are interested in having a bigger presence in the mission district to try to help train residents of the mission district in technical issues and also perhaps aid in cultural programming and things that they are good with. his concern via an intermediary is to just know what the zoning is because they apparently are trying to rent a temporary space there to do this. and i'd just like to hear from staff if there's any barriers to this. i know that when we passed the eastern neighborhoods, there were certain restrictions as to tech uses in certain areas, and what would qualify as such and, you know, this is something that sounds like a very promising opportunity on the part of a major tech company that is developing a -- wisely developing a bigger and bigger presence in san francisco. so, i just want to know what the zoning situation is there. and they can report to him. and that's basically it for today. thank you. >> commissioner borden. >> yes, there's been reports in the paper that fresh and easy might sell to wal-mart. and i just would love to get a comment from staff

'm googling the internet in a desperate hope i can find something that has enough story telling in it that i can present it to my kids in the free or four days we get to try to communicate the civil rights movement. our textbooks are oatmeal. they are arguments with dates all in them, deliberately trying to make this history inaccessible. have i lost my mic? [laughter] i didn't do anything. the institute may not be popular here, but it's a good organization. [laughter] i don't think it deserves -- okay, there. we've apologized to them. anyway, these system teachers in idaho said what you don't realize is that we're on the low end of the totem pole if you're a history teacher. schools in the united states are now evaluated by test scores for students in english and math, not in history. if you're a good history teacher and your principal is suggesting you might do well to teach english because the school is not evaluated on history. without a sense of american history, it's impossible to teach citizenship, which also has been wiped out of our curriculum. so they say our schools are not built
